How many versions of your resume should you keep?
One strong master, plus a tailored copy per role type. More than that and you'll lose track.
Start with a master
Keep one comprehensive version with everything you might use. You tailor down from it — cutting and re-weighting — rather than rebuilding each time.
Tailor per role family
If you apply to two kinds of roles — say, IC engineer and eng-manager — keep a tuned version of each. Within a family, small per-application tweaks are enough.
Version them clearly
Name files so you know which went where. Sending the wrong tailored copy is an avoidable own-goal.
