Should your resume match your LinkedIn?

The facts must match; the depth doesn't have to. Recruiters cross-check, so contradictions cost you.

Facts align, always

Titles, employers and dates should be identical across both. A recruiter who spots a mismatch reads it as a red flag, not a rounding error.

Depth can differ

LinkedIn can carry more roles and detail; your resume stays tailored and tight. Same truth, different length.

Tailor the resume, not the profile

You'll tune a resume per application. Your profile stays a stable, broad presence — so keep the per-role editing on the resume side.

Sync after big changes

New role, new title, new win — update both. A stale profile beside a fresh resume undercuts the story.
