The sections every resume needs — and the ones to cut
Header, experience, skills, education. Almost everything else is optional, and some of it is a liability.
The core four
Contact header, work experience, skills, and education carry almost every resume. Get these right and you rarely need more.
Projects, when they pull weight
Projects earn a section when you're early-career or the work shows skills your jobs didn't. For a senior with a strong history, they're clutter.
Cut these
Drop 'references available on request', a full mailing address, marital status, a photo (outside regions where it's expected), and a hobbies list unless it's genuinely relevant.
Order by strength
Lead with whatever is strongest for this role — experience for professionals, projects and education for new grads. resumania orders the page around your career stage.
