Where to put the skills section (and how to rank it)

Near the top for technical roles, further down for others — and always tiered, never a flat dump.

Placement by role

For engineering, data and other tool-heavy roles, a skills block near the top helps recruiters searching for a stack. For people-first roles, let experience lead and put skills lower.

Tier, don't dump

Thirty skills in one line means none stand out. Group them — languages, frameworks, tools — and lead each group with what you're strongest at.

List what you'd defend

Only list a skill you'd be comfortable being questioned on. Padding the list with things you touched once is the fastest way to lose an interview.

Let bullets back it up

A skill in the list plus a bullet that uses it is convincing. A skill that appears nowhere else looks aspirational. resumania pulls your tools from real roles and lets you rank them.
