The teacher resume that transfers to industry

Whether you're staying in education or pivoting out, the trick is naming outcomes, not duties.

Outcomes over duties

'Taught 5th grade' is a duty. 'Raised class reading scores 20% over a year through targeted, data-informed instruction' is an outcome any employer respects.

Translate for a pivot

Classroom management is operations; curriculum design is project management; parent communication is stakeholder management. Name the transferable skill in industry terms.

Quantify the intangible

Students taught, programs run, improvements measured. Teaching is more quantifiable than it feels once you look for the numbers.

Lead with the target

Staying in education, lead with teaching wins. Pivoting, lead with a summary that reframes the transferable strengths — which is exactly what tailoring is for.
